Very very interesting reading on headshaking and vaccinations!!!

http://www.headshaking.com/ourview.htm

We personally don't vaccinate our horses or now our dogs either as we think that once they're adults their immune system should be good and once injected with the diseases (vaccination) then their immune system has already had the disease, why vaccinate yearly???

Good reading, enjoy!

hi shelley,

i have to say, that when i first started breeding my dogs, i read a lot about vac's in dogs and the different side effects they cause, once a dog reaches 7yrs of age they don't need to be vacinated anyway, but i used to do my animals with homeopathy, and most of the ppl that bought my dogs where more than happy to carry it on, but now mine don't have anything, (and touch wood) have never come down with anything at all

We vaccinated our dogs as puppies, had the booster and then 2 years after that but have stopped now too as I've read a few Retrievers have died from the vaccine's. They're pretty hardy, well fed (vegetarian!) and very healthy. They also very very very rarely meet another dog, we don't go anywhere...bit like our horses, they've got good immune systems and we don't over do their systems by dragging them about all over the place.

What homeopathy did you use for your dogs?

hi shelley,

the pills i used to give my dogs, where called a combination pill which covered all the illnesses (including kennel cough, as i had so many dogs at the time) it was made up by Ainsworths in london and sent vurtually next day and for a course for 1 dog it only cost about £5.00 (for a yrs supply) now although cost dosent come into it, that is much much cheaper than injections, and far less traumatic (my dogs all used to line up for their pills and potions in the mornings, lol,) because my dogs are german shepherds which suffer from several different defects in the breeding ie hip displacier, crumbling spine, i give them cod liver oil pills, and other homeopathy pills such as pulex for fleas and cina for worms so they get used to having different pills and they are good as gold,

although it didn't help my poor naz and spirit who died just before christmas, with things that i couldn't prevent,

also with all these things that i give my dogs there is NO SIDE EFFECTS, which is very important to me, as sometimes the side effects are far worse than the actual illness itself

Thanks for that, very interesting stuff. I too used to worry more about the after effects.

hi ya everyone,

lol i have to say shelley, you started me off on the natural way again, thinking about all the things i used before i went on a "internet surf" yesterday, (might as well do something useful as i can't drive at the moment because of the antibiotics the doctor gave me for the abcess) and found that it is so much easier now, than when i started and they now do pills and potions for a wider range of animals, lots out there for horses cattle sheep as well as dogs and cats,

hmmm, best get off this soap box now, before i bore everyone to death lol

Hi Karen,

Good to keep your mind on the natural side of things. You could never bore me, keep the info coming, once it's on here hopefully something will help someone else down the line.

Is your absess going to be lanced? eek? what about the tooth, is it safe from being pulled!

well i do hope that someone gets some good out of this, i spent months in the librery doing reserch on the natural things for my dogs, and i have to say they had the best start that any animal could have, although people thought i was bonkers,(lol and probably still do) in the summer they had frozzen tripe (popsicals) and totally enjoyed them, and then moved on to chicken wings (before they became popular for b.b.q's ) (thanks jamie oliver and all the other celeb chefs) because as a lot of people don't know, the bones of chickens don't become brittle unless they are cooked,  lol, used to cook them up a lovely porridge with alsorts of herbs and oils in, but never cooked it for my children

anyway, it's easy to see really why i have problem children, (4 legged not the 2 legged) lol

as for the absess, hmm, well my face has now stopped looking like half a hamster, and the swelling is now going down,  but ...... and here we go with the side effects....... i can't stay awake very long ...... and my feet and ankles have now started to swell  i can't see a dentist till the swelling and pain has gone as they won't do anything anyway, also because i have a major problem with dentists i have to get a refural to the hospital where they put me to sleep and do what they have to do all in one go  and as you know getting a hospital appointment at the moment is ..... hmmm none existant because it's coming to the end of the financial year

never mind eh?
